The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Then where are you going? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
