The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
Almighty Allah's Truth.
