The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
