The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
