The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 To be raised for a Great Day? 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 It is a repository of distinctly written record. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Yes indeed - they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 It is a written book, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
