The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 on a fateful Day. 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
