The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 on a Great Day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 A written record. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
