The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
