Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains how they have been established? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
