The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
