The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 on a great day 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 A book inscribed, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On thrones, watching. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
