The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
