The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
