And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
