The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
