When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 The people of the town came along, revelling, 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
