The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
