The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
