The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
