The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
