The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
