The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
22 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Sun (Al-Shams) before The Fig (Al-Teen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 And the promised day, 2 and by the witness and what is witnessed: 3 (Self-)destroyed were the owners of the ditch 4 Of the fire (kept burning) with fuel, 5 They sat by it 6 And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses. 7 And they persecuted them for naught save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy 8 to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. God is witness over all things. 9 Those who persecute the believing men and believing women, and then do not repent, will surely suffer the punishment of Hell, and the torment of burning. 10 Verily those who believed and worked righteous works, theirs shall be Gardens whereunder the rivers flow; that is the supreme achievement. 11 Stern indeed is your Lord's punishment. 12 It is He who originates and repeats. 13 And He is the Fogiving, the Loving, 14 in sublime almightiness enthroned, 15 and the Most Effective in His decision. 16 Have you not heard about the stories of the armies 17 (The armies of) Firaun and the tribe of Thamud. 18 And yet, they who are bent on denying the truth persist in giving it the lie: 19 And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them. 20 Nay, but it is a glorious Qur'an. 21 On a guarded tablet. 22
Almighty God's Truth.
