Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are devising guile, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
