The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
