The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 he was created of gushing water 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
