The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 And it is no joke. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
