Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Clear Book; 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 And verily, [originating as it does] in the source, with Us, of all revelation, it is indeed sublime, full of wisdom. 4 Should We withdraw the admonition from you because you are a people far gone in transgression? 5 Many a prophet had We sent to the earlier communities, 6 And whenever any Prophet came to them, they only mocked at him. 7 So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old. 8 And if thou (Muhammad) ask them: Who created the heavens and the earth, they will surely answer: The Mighty, the Knower created them; 9 [The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided 10 And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth - 11 And Who has created all the pairs and has appointed for you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves), 13 And to our Lord we shall surely return." 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15
