The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
