The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
