Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
