The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
