The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 it is not a jest. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
