The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
