The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 The piercing star! 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
