The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 it is no merriment. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
