The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the piercing star - 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
