Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
