He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 You pay full attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
