Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
