Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
