Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
