Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 laboring, wornout, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
