Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 and raised couches, 13 Goblets set, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
