Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets set, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
