Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and arranged cushions 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
