Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets outspread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
