The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
