Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
