Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 and raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
