Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
